There’s a sigh of relief coming out of Blacksburg, Va. on Sunday evening. That is because it appears Virginia Tech Hokies head coach Justin Fuente is going nowhere. Fuente made a statement that he is declining to talk to other schools amid rumors of him being a target for other job openings, most notably ACC rival Florida State.

“We’ve been approached and I’ve declined to talk to anybody,” Fuente said on Sunday per Mike Barber of the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Fuente is in his second season as the head coach of the Hokies. He has compiled a 19-7 record, including a 9-3 mark this season and an ACC Coastal division title in 2016. Following Jimbo Fisher’s decision to leave Florida State to become the head coach of Texas A&M, reports surfaced of Fuente being at the top of the Seminoles wish list along with Oregon head coach Willie Taggart.

Fuente has also been linked to openings at Tennesse and Arkansas. As the Hokies get set to face Oklahoma State in the Camping World Bowl, any worries of such a move have been put to rest by Fuente himself. Now, the Hokies can move on towards 2018 with a consensus top-20 recruiting class.
