The Metropolitan Division playoffs are set. The top-seed in the division the Washington Capitals will face the Columbus Blue Jackets in the first round.

The Philadelphia Flyers leapfrogged the Blue Jackets for the third seed in the Metro with a 5-0 win over the New York Rangers, while the Blue Jackets lost to the Nashville Predators 4-2 on Saturday night.

Blue Jackets dropped to the first wild-card round, drawing the Capitals. Meanwhile the Flyers matches up with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round.

Washington clinched the division title with 105 points winning eight of their last 10 contest, including a 5-3 win over the New Jersey Devils on Saturday.

The Capitals and Blue Jackets have never met in the postseason but Columbus head coach John Tortorella is very familiar with the Capitals. His teams — the Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Rangers — have met the Capitals five times in the postseason with the Capitals winning two of those series.

The Capitals do have recent history on their side. They won the season series against the Blue Jackets 3-1-0.
