Georgetown will need a power forward for their 2018 recruiting class, as Marcus Derrickson has declared for the NBA Draft. He will also hire an agent, completely forgoing his NCAA eligibility.

Derrickson started all 29 Georgetown games as a junior. Standing at 6-foot-7 and 250 pounds, the Bowie native tremendous upside as he can play in the post as well as step out to defend and shoot off the wing.
Last season he increased his three-point percentage to 46.5 percent while increasing his attempts per game. He shot 50.5 percent from the field overall. His ability to stretch the defense will be enticing for NBA scouts, especially when he develops the ability to beat bigger defenders off the dribble and attack the rim. His speed versus NBA wings or physicality against NBA bigs will be his biggest question mark.
His frame is ideal to play both forward positions and be a integral part to a rotation in the NBA, if he works on his weaknesses. His development while under two different head coaches at Georgetown shows his ability to adapt to the system and scheme and will go a long way into his professional development.
In 2017-18, Derrickson had a 64 true shooting percentage which helped him increase his scoring production to 15.9 points per game — 19.8 per 40 minutes. He shot 86.3 percent from the free-throw line. He led the Hoyas in offensive rating at 121.4 per 100 possessions, according to Sports-Reference. He also led the team with a net rating of 17.2 of any player with a minimum of 100 minutes.
