Alex Ovechkin came to play in Game 6. Determined to end the series on the road, the Washington Capitals captain netted back-to-back goals in the second period. The Capitals took a 3-1 lead behind Ovechkin’s efforts.
His first goal gave him his 50th playoff goal of his career, making him the 60th player in NHL history to do so. He is now the eighth active player with the milestone. What makes the feat remarkable is considering, he has done so without ever playing beyond the second-round.

The goal came as Ovechkin planted in front of the net. He was perfectly positioned as Brooks Orpik’s slap shot rebounded off the pad of Columbus Blue Jackets goalie Sergei Bobrovsky to backhand the puck into the net to give Washington a 2-1 lead.
His second goal of the night came at the 18:23 mark of the second while the Capitals were on a power play. Ovechkin patiently waited at his office at the circle for Evgeny Kuznetsov to set up the spacing before John Carlson quickly dished the puck for Ovechkin’s hard wrister.

The goal was his fifth of the playoffs and 51st of his career, skyrocketing him in a tie for 54th most postseason goals in league history.
Washington is trying to put a clamp on the series after falling into a 0-2 series deficit losing the first two games at home. But the Capitals have rebounded to win the last three and looking to end the series on enemy territory in Columbus.
