The Washington Redskins have announced they will host the New York Jets in set of joint practices during training camp.

The joint sessions will take place from Aug. 12 through Aug. 14 at the Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center in Richmond, Va.. Times of each session will be announced at a later date. The practices will conjoin with both team’s preseason opener on Aug. 16 at FedEx Field. That game will be nationally televised on ESPN.

“I’m extremely excited to welcome the Jets to Richmond for three days of practice,” Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said per Redskins.com. “In the past, joint practices have given our coaching staff a great opportunity to evaluate our players in competitive situations against other teams, and we look forward to having that opportunity again this year by hosting the Jets.”

This will be the third time the Redskins will host another NFL team for joint practices. The New England Patriots visited Richmond in 2014 during Gruden’s first season as Redskins head coach. They also hosted the Houston Texans in 2015. Highlights of the practices appeared on HBO’s Hard Knocks series as the Texans were featured.

Redskins’ newcomers quarterback Alex Smith, wide receiver Paul Richardson, and a 2018 draft class that features first-round pick defensive tackle Da’Ron Payne and second-round pick, running back Derrius Guice in competitive nature.

In addition, the Redskins and fans will get a first-look at the Jets’ first-round pick, quarterback Sam Darnold. The practices also will give former Redskins, center Spencer Long and wide receiver Terrelle Pryor, an opportunity to face their former team.
