Aston-Reese appeared to be bloodied after the hit, as Penguins fans rang out boos directed at Wilson.
Wilson was not penalized for the collision and gave a smirk as he was booed as the play was showed on video screen inside Pittsburgh’s PPG Paints Arena.
Hard to tell main point of contact, but it's pretty clear Wilson's skates are on the ice when he makes that contact. pic.twitter.com/WZQfkocAs8

It appears that Wilson’s initial contact was with Aston-Reese’s shoulder. In Game 2 Wilson was the subject of another controversial hit when he hit Brian Dumoulin. Wilson was not disciplined for that hit but considering his reputation of controversial hits and his aggressive style of play, a meeting with the NHL’s Department of Player Safety could be in schedule.
Nonetheless, Wilson is garnering a reputation of a hated man among fans around the league outside of Washington, D.C.
