With two runners on, Bryce Harper didn’t waste any time delivering. The Washington Nationals’ slugger tattooed the first pitch he saw in the at-bat, sending it into the visitors’ bullpen for a three-run jack to extend the Nats’ lead over the Pittsburgh Pirates to 5-0.

Harper started the game batting lead-off in the order for the first time since 2013. Following Max Scherzer, who was batting eighth, reaching base on an error and Wilmer Difo drawing a walk, Harper cleared the bases.
With the offensive explosion, maybe Harper batting first may be a good thing, at least until all the parts of the Nationals return from injury.
