Redskins front-office executive Dennis Greene resigned on Wednesday following the ill-fated 2013 Redskins cheerleaders photo shoot, according to Liz Clarke of the Washington Post.
Greene, who once served as the Redskins’ president of business operations, was in charge of selling luxury suites at the FedEx Field as attendance for the team’s premium seats were declining. To help grow sales, Greene along with another former Redskins execute promised access to the team’s cheerleaders as an incentive for prospective buyers, according to a former Redskins official.
“They’d send suite owners down there, and that’s how Dennis Greene got people to buy suites,” the former team official told the Washington Post. “He’d say, ‘I’m going to give you a good deal, and you can go on a trip with the cheerleaders.”
A report by the New York Times surfaced in May about cheerleaders detailing of how they were required to pose topless in front of male sponsors and suite holders and act as escorts during a 2013 photo shoot in Costa Rica.
Greene was with the team for 17 years before his resignation. He was recently named the team’s president of hospitality as Brian Lafemina was named president of business operations — Greene’s former position — and chief operating officer.
