The Washington Redskins had to cut down their roster to 53 players ahead of Saturday’s 4:00 p.m. EDT deadline. At the top of the list is running back Kapri Bibbs, who signed with the Redskins late last season and emerged as a capable third down back option. However, with the Redskins being deep at running aback and the return of the injured Chris Thompson, who has looked “fantastic” according to head coach Jay Gruden, Bibbs was the odd man out in a logjam at the position.
Another notable name is inside linebacker Martrell Spaight, who was a fifth-round pick of the Redskins in 2015. Spaight was beaten out by Shaun Dion Hamilton and Zach Vigil.
