After a summer of turmoil, the Maryland Terrapins couldn’t ask for a better start to the 2018 season. An season-opening six-play, 67-yard drive that was finished with a 28-yard touchdown run by freshman Jeshaun Jones.

Maryland wasted no time scoring on the Texas Longhorns, as they moved the football down the field with a couple of big plays by Taivon Jacobs. Then on 2nd-and-7, Jones got the hand-off on a jet sweep and got two big blocks ahead of him that sprung him open as he rolled down the field into the end zone untouched. It was Jones first touch as a collegiate player.

It’s early but an opening-drive touchdown is the best possible scenario for a Maryland team that has been under fire all summer following the death of Jordan McNair and the circumstances surrounding his death that led to strength and conditioning coach Rick Court resigning and head coach D.J. Durkin being placed on administrative leave.
