The Washington Redskins are already down one wide receiver with Jamison Crowder officially being ruled out for Sunday’s NFC East showdown against the Dallas Cowboys. They may be without a second starting receiver, as Paul Richardson is listed as doubtful with shoulder and knee injuries.

It was revealed Richardson was dealing with both a shoulder and knee injury after the Redskins’ Week 4 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Richardson toughed through last week’s win over the Carolina Panthers, recording three catches for 31 yards and a touchdown. Unfortunately, the knee issue worsen following the game.

Richardson did not practice this week and had his knee reevaluated on Thursday by a doctor, although it was not an MRI. It was discovered he had re-aggravated a previous knee injury, but there was no structural damage, according to Kareem Copeland of the Washington Post.

Maurice Harris will man the slot receiver position in Crowder’s place and its expected that he will be part of base packages alongside Josh Doctson if Richardson is unavailable to play. Brian Quick and Michael Floyd may get an increase in snaps when the Redskins got to three receiver-sets.Ā Washington signed Jehu Chesson from their practice squad on Thursday to add depth to the wide receiver position.

With new quarterback Alex Smith, the Redskins have struggled to get the football to their wide receivers. The Redskins enter Sunday’s game against Dallas ranked 24th in the NFL in passing yards per game. Richardson led all Redskins wide receivers with 24 targets, 16 catches and 212 yards while leading the team with two receiving touchdowns.
