The mystery of which team claimed the troubled linebacker Reuben Foster off waivers on Tuesday has been solved. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Washington Redskins claimed Foster after the former Alabama product was waived by the San Francisco 49ers.

The 49ers waived Foster Sunday after he was arrested on a domestic violence charge (his second within the year) from the team hotel in Tampa, Florida. According to reports, Foster smacked a phone out of a 28-year old woman’s hand, pushed her in the chest, and slapped her across the face. The woman, Elissa Ennis was the same victim of his first alleged domestic violence charge. However, she testified she lied about the incident following his first arrest and charges were dropped against Foster.

Foster was also arrested on marijuana charges earlier this year. He was suspended for the first two games of this season.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan explained that the organization could not trust Foster’s decision-making, following his release.

Now comes the question if Foster will be suspended by the NFL stemming from his latest incident.

Of course with the claiming of a player with such a checkered past, the Redskins will be sure to come under heavy scrutiny. The league put in place a domestic violence policy in 2014 stemming from the Ray Rice incident. As the team awaits his fate from the league, it’s expected that Foster will be available immediately until then.
