For the second straight day, Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden was addressing controversial comments made by one of his starting inside linebackers. Wednesday it was Mason Foster and his “F— this team and this fan base” and Thursday it was Zach Brown’s seeing “the writing on the wall” about his future with the Redskins.

Gruden shot down any premature notion that Brown’s time with the Redskins is coming to an end.

“Nobody wrote anything on a wall,” Gruden proclaimed about Brown’s comments per John Keim of ESPN. “He hasn’t talked to me yet. Anyone has a problem they can come see me.”

At the heart of Brown’s beef is the Redskins electing to start rookie Shaun Dion Hamilton at inside linebacker last week against the New York Giants over Brown. Brown was dealing with an illness and did not practice much of the week.

Hamilton had eight tackles before exiting the 40-16 loss with a shoulder injury. Brown replaced him, collecting two tackles.

Brown told reporters on Wednesday, he saw the writing on the wall that his time is ending with the Redskins.

“I’m just sitting here just doing what I’m supposed to be doing till it’s time for me to leave,” Brown told reporters, per Craig Hoffman of 106.7 the Fan. “You see the writing on the wall. It is what it is. Just here now I just got to contribute to the team and help us get to the playoffs.”

He signed a three-year deal in March worth $24 million. However, the Redskins could have a potential out with the structure of the contract at the end of the season, saving them $5.75 million of salary cap space for the 2019 season if they release Brown.
