Hours after cornerback Joshua Hosley on injured reserve, the Redskins placed rookie cornerback Danny Johnson on IR. Washington currently has an NFL-most 20 players currently on IR.

Johnson was placed on IR early Wednesday morning with a finger injury. Washington signed defensive back Jeremy Reaves in a corresponding move.

The Redskins have been ridden with injuries this season, primarily on the offensive side of the ball. They’ve lost two quarterbacks this season, one on IR, Alex Smith with a broken fibula and tibia, and the other Colt McCoy, broken fibula, may return this season if healthy.

The Redskins have four offensive guards on IR, including Week 1 starters Shawn Lauvao and Brandon Scherff, and four wide receivers, including top-option Paul Richardson.

As for Johnson, his rookie season comes to an end. He signed with the Redskins as an undrafted rookie out of Southern University. He impressed during training camp and preseason and ultimately landed on the 53-man roster, surviving the final cuts before the start of the season.

Most of his action came on special teams this season, playing on 261 snaps. He did have 67 defensive snaps, with a season-high 36 snaps in Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons. And he made his only start of the season in Week 10 against Tampa Bay.

Johnson finishes the season with 15 tackles, a forced fumble, and one pass defensed in 14 games. Additionally, he averaged 23.6 yards on 12 kick returns.

Reaves, an undrafted rookie out of South Alabama, joins Josh Norman, Fabian Moreau, rookies Greg Stroman and Adonis Alexander, and Harlan Miller, who replaced Hosley at the Redskins active cornerbacks.
