Safety Montae Nicholson won’t play in the Washington Redskins’ Week 16 game at the Tennessee Titans Saturday. Redskins head coach Jay Gruden told reporters Nicholson will not play this week, at least, following his alleged assault of a man outside an establishment in Loudoun County, Virginia early Tuesday, per John Keim of ESPN.com.
Nicholson was charged with assault and battery and drunk in public. A video obtained and released by TMZ Sports, shows a man believed to be Nicholson throwing punches before knocking down a man with brutal punch.
Gruden said the team is still gathering all information involving the incident before determining whether Nicholson plays the following week or beyond if the team makes the playoffs.
Nicholson was a fourth-round selection of the Redskins in the 2017 NFL Draft. He earned a starting safety role this season, starting in seven games before the team acquired Ha Ha Clinton-Dix from the Green Bay Packers.
