Stephen A. Smith is back at it again. The ESPN personality has made a living off making hot takes at the expense of the misinformed. Tuesday was no different.

While on First Take discussing the signing of Nick Foles with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Smith apparently made an argument involving the Redskins, mentioning how the Redskins had “five different quarterbacks” start a game for them.

“If you look at the Redskins last year, they had five different quarterbacks, Smith proclaimed. “Alex Smith, Josh Johnson, Colt McCoy. They even got Mr. ‘Butt Fumble’ himself Mark Sanchez, okay. And some guy named Tress Way actually started in one game.”

First off only four quarterbacks started for the Redskins last season. That “some guy” Tress Way is actually the Redskins punter. He has been the Redskins punter for five seasons now. He threw one pass on a fake punt in Week 17, a completed pass to Jehu Chesson for seven yards and a first down. He did not start the game for the Redskins nor was it the first pass of the game for the Redskins.

That’s called getting the information from the box score and not knowing the substance behind the stat. Yes, media will make mistakes a lot. All do, but it’s eye-popping for a national TV personality that is so volatile.

Don’t worry, Way took the opportunity to remind people of his impressive quarterback rating in his career — two passes.

Of course, Smith isn’t so endearing in the nation’s capital after his beef with Washington Wizards star John Wall. Smith has had his fair share of mistakes, especially when discussing sports outside of basketball. Considering the resources that ESPN has, he or they may want to dig a bit deeper for his sake in their research.
