Juan Soto has finally arrived to the 2019 season!
The Washington Nationals’ 20-year old phenom hit his first home run of the season, a three-run blast to center field. Soto had runners on corner when he lifted Philadelphia Phillies’ pitcher Aaron Nola’s fastball in the air 426 feet to extend the Nationals’ lead to 6-2.
Soto has had a pedestrian start to the season. Entering Wednesday’s matinee, he was hitting .188/.235/.250 at the plate with one double and two RBIs.
Hopefully this is a promising sign that he has broke out of his early slump. Last year he finished runner-up for the National League Rookie of the Year. Expectations are high for him as the team moves on from Bryce Harper, who signed with the rival Phillies.
