The Washington Nationals trail the Atlanta Braves early in Sunday’s series finale, however, it’s not without a couple of spectacular defensive plays by their young center field Victor Robles.
After throwing out Ronald Acuna Jr. as he tried to stretch out a double in the second, Robles was back at it again. This flashing his glove as he tracked down a would-be hit by Dansby Swanson with a full extension, diving catch in shallow center.
It’s worth mentioning, Victor Robles leads all NL outfielders in outs above average. He is taking ownership of the Nationals’ center field position, something they’ve been yearning for long-term since the team moved to DC.
As he continues to develop as a hitter, the 22-year old is solidifying a reputation as one of the better defensive outfielders in baseball.
His 1.0 DWAR leads his team and is seventh among all center fielders entering Sunday.
