The Washington Redskins entered training camp with a group of unproven wide receivers. However, one thing is certain at the position, slot receiver. Head coach Jay Gruden told reporters before Sunday’s practice that second-year pro Trey Quinn has the slot receiver position locked down.
The Redskins selected Quinn with the last pick of the 2018 NFL Draft. “Mr. Irrelevant” struggled through an ankle injury as a rookie last season that required surgery and two stints on injured reserve.
Despite only playing through three games in 2018, Quinn has bounced back and solidify the slot receiver position.
The Redskins revamped its receiving core after Jamison Crowder signed with the New York Jets this off-season. Washington drafted Terry McLaurin and Kelvin Harmon in hopes of making the group younger and upgrading the overall talent.
McLaurin has been turning heads, and Harmon is competing to be a top-4 member of the group alongside veteran Paul Richardson and the embattled Josh Doctson. Questions remain, but Trey Quinn is penned in at slot.
