Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson could miss the season opener against his former team, the Washington Redskins, after suffering a broken finger Tuesday in practice.

Jackson fractured his ring finger, and was told the injury could keep him out of action for 3 to 4 weeks, according to ESPN’s Josina Anderson.

Jackson will try out a custom split Wednesday that will determine his comfort level and if he can play with splint before fully healing. If not, he could miss Week 1’s game against the Redskins.

He signed with the Redskins in 2014 after then-Eagles head coach Chip Kelly surprisingly released the talented receiver. Jackson was coming off a career-year with 82 receptions for 1,332 yards and nine touchdowns.

Washington jumped on the opportunity to sign Jackson to a three-year deal. In three seasons, he didn’t quite duplicate his success in Philadelphia, however he did have two 1,000 yards seasons in three years with Washington and led the NFL in yards per reception in 2014 and 2016.

DeSean Jackson opted to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2017, but after two disappointing seasons returned to where his NFL career started in Philadelphia, signing a three-year deal this off-season.
