The Washington Nationals fell behind 2-0 against the St. Louis Cardinals after a rocky first inning for starter Stephen Strasburg. But, the Nationals climbed back. After cutting their deficit to one, Anthony Rendon hit his 34th home run of the season to tie the game at 2-2.
Rendon got on top of a Dakota Hudson sinker, sending it into the Cardinals bullpen to lead off the sixth inning.
Rendon has pulled into a tie with Juan Soto with the most home runs for the Nationals this season. He also raised his RBI total to 119. Both are career-highs and coming at a great time for the third baseman as he is in contract year.
Talks seemingly have stalled between Anthony Rendon, his agent, Scott Boras and Washington. However, he is surely driving up the price of his impending deal seemingly every day with his play of the field.
