DJ Swearinger is once again a free agent. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Arizona Cardinals are releasing the veteran safety.
Arizona claimed Swearinger off waivers last December after he was waived by the Washington Redskins.
Swearinger had repeatedly criticized the Redskins coaching staff, specifically defensive coordinator Greg Manusky during the 2018 season to the point he was warned to stop. He did not, and the final straw was after he bashed Manusky following a Week 16 loss to the Tennessee Titans.
Swearinger vowed to keep his mouth shut next time after being cut the Redskins. However, he did have parting shots toward Washington’s head coach Jay Gruden via Instagram.
Swearinger thought he found a home going back to the Cardinals, however he struggled this season through four games. He had 22 tackles but allowed 11 catches on 15 targets against, according to Pro Football Focus.
