Washington Nationals starter Anibal Sanchez silenced the St. Louis Cardinals bats in Game 1 of the NLCS. Sanchez had a no-hitter through 7 2/3 innings, when Jose Martinez delivered a pinch-hit single to center.

Yet, it was a marvelous job by Nationals’ fourth starter that at his age now, gets overshadowed by the Nationals’ trio of studs Strasburg, Scherzer, and Corbin.

Nationals manager Davey Martinez pull the hook on Sanchez after that moment. He had did his change, pitching a scoreless 7 2/3 innings. He allowed just one hit, one walk, hit two batters, and strike out five.

Sean Doolittle finished the eighth inning getting Dante Fowler out. Now, with a 2-0 lead, its up for the Nationals bullpen who is out of their postseason closer Daniel Hudson (paternity list).
