Nationals starter Anibal Sanchez has cut down the St. Louis Cardinals for six scoreless innings. In fact, Sanchez has yet to give up a hit, leaving the Cardinals to be so desperate for a baserunner, they employed pinch-hitting Randy Arozarena to take one for the team. Well, at least that is how it appeared.
Sanchez plunked Arozarena, who was awarded first base. However, upon replay, it sure does look like Arozarena never attempts to move out of the way of pitch. Furthermore, he appears to leans his elbow into the pitch.
Then the fake fall out may have been over the top. Yet, the umpires bought his act. Fortunately for the Nationals, Sanchez buckled down and got out of the inning despite Arozarena stealing a base and ultimately ended up on third base.
The Nationals are holding on to a 1-0 lead going into the seventh of the NLCS.
