Redskins safety Montae Nicholson exited Sunday’s game in the third quarter with an ankle injury. He had to be helped off the field before he was carted off the field into the locker room and later ruled out for the game.
Nicholson has started all seven games of the season at free safety. He entered this week’s game with 34 tackles, three passes defensed, and two interceptions. He had one tackle and one pass defensed against the 49ers before exiting the game.
The Redskins are already down backup safety Deshazor Everett with an ankle injury. Nicholson was replaced by second-year safety Troy Apke, who caught his first NFL interception on the same drive, Nicholson was injured.
