The Washington Redskins are placing tight end Vernon Davis on injured reserve. Davis hasn’t played since Week 4, missing the previous six games while in the concussion protocol.

In a corresponding move, the Redskins are promoting defensive lineman Ryan Bee from the practice squad.

This is Davis’ seventh documented concussion. Davis joins fellow Redskins’ tight end Jordan Reed to be placed on IR with a concussion this season.

Reed did not play a down this season after suffering a concussion from a helmet-to-helmet hit during a preseason game against Atlanta in August.

Davis, who turns 36 years of age in January, was in the final year of a three-year, $15 million deal with the Redskins. Washington is in desperate need of a receiving tight end and with the injury history of Reed and Davis, chances are the team will turn in another direction for 2020.

Vernon Davis finishes the season with 10 catches for 123 yards and one touchdown. In three seasons with the Redskins, he had 122 receptions for 1,721 yards and eight touchdowns.
