Following the Washington Redskins’ 19-16 win over the Detroit Lions, interim head coach Bill Callahan addressed the rumors surrounding Josh Norman and his availability to play.
Callahan said Norman has been playing injured, and that it was his decision to suit up for Sunday’s win. Callahan, defensive coordinator Greg Manusky, defensive backs coach Ray Horton, and Norman met Thursday about his availability, leaving the decision in the veteran’s hands.
Callahan also said he wasn’t sure if Norman would return to the starting lineup once he feels healthier, per John Keim of ESPN.
Callahan says he, Manusky and Horton say down with Norman on Thursday.

Bill says it was Josh’s decision because of the injuries. Same exact thing as Minnesota. Callahan says he’s a true pro and he’s proud of his professionalism.
Prior to the game Sunday, multiple reports surfaced that Norman was set to be a healthy scratch against the Lions. Shortly before the game, Norman was made active for emergency purposes, benching Aaron Colivn instead.
Norman appeared on a special teams snap which he barely moved at the snap of the ball. While some rushed to decision about his effort, the lack of effort did point to a player dealing with hand, foot, knee, and hamstring injuries.
Rookie Jimmy Moreland replaced Norman in the starting lineup at cornerback. The Redskins recorded three interceptions all by the secondary — two by Fabian Moreau and one by Quinton Dunbar — in the win.
