Adrian Peterson kept his word by gifting Washington Redskins teammate Terry McLaurin with the ball he tied Walter Payton for fourth on the NFL’s all-time rushing touchdowns list.
Peterson wanted to reward the rookie wide receiver for his key block that sprung Peterson for the historic touchdown in Sunday’s 37-27 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Thus, Peterson handed over his 105th career rushing touchdown ball with a personal message and signature to McLaurin.
McLaurin had a huge game despite the loss, collecting five catches for a career-high 130 yards and a touchdown. McLaurin gave away his touchdown ball from the game to cancer survivor Isaiah Shorter, according to ESPN’s John Keim. However, Peterson made sure to cover the young stud with his gift.
McLaurin has been a pleasant surprise for the Redskins during his rookie season. Not only is he the team’s best rookie, he has arguably been the team’s Offensive MVP.
Through 13 games played, McLaurin leads the Redskins with 51 receptions for 833 receiving yards and seven total touchdowns.
McLaurin has the highest rookie grade for a wide receiver since Odell Beckham Jr. in 2014, according to Pro Football Focus.
