Terry McLaurin is eight yards shy of breaking the Washington Redskins rookie record for receiving yards. However, McLaurin may not get the opportunity in Sunday’s season finale at the Dallas Cowboys, as the rookie wide receiver has been placed in the league’s concussion protocol.
McLaurin was injured late this past Sunday’s overtime loss to the New York Giants. He made an acrobatic catch, landing hard on the turf before his head banged against the ground. He was assisted off the field into the blue medical tent after the catch.
He had seven catches for 86 yards in the game.
McLaurin has been a pleasant pickup for the Redskins. The third-round pick has not only been Washington’s best rookie, but arguably their best player this season.
As it stands, Terry McLaurin has 58 catches for 919 yards and seven touchdowns through 15 games. All are tops for the Redskins this season. McLaurin missed Week 4 with a hamstring injury. Gary Clark had 926 receiving yards on 72 catches as a rookie in 1985.
