Terry McLaurin is day-to-day as the Washington Redskins rookie wide receiver remains in concussion protocol after being re-evaluated Thursday.
McLaurin was injured late in Week 16’s overtime loss to the New York Giants making a diving catch along the sidelines. He was assisted off the field into the blue medical tent. He returned to the game but developed concussion symptoms sometime after the game.
McLaurin was held out practice Tuesday as well. His status for Sunday’s season finale at the Dallas Cowboys remains uncertain.
The injury is unfortunate and clouds the conclusion of one of the better rookie seasons in recent years for the Redskins. Currently, McLaurin is the top-graded rookie wide receiver by Pro Football Focus.
He needs just eight yards to break the Redskins’ rookie receiving yards record held by Redskins legend Gary Clark (1985).
Certainly, the long-term health of Terry McLaurin trumps any risk of further injury for a record. But it would be a tough way to fall short of the record, considering McLaurin missed one game this season back in Week 4 for a hamstring issue.
Safeties Questionable
Redskins safety Landon Collins sat out of Thursday’s practice with a shoulder injury. Fellow starting safety Montae Nicholson is day-to-day with neck and ankle injuries. Additionally, cornerback Fabian Moreau is considered day-to-day with a lingering hamstring injury that kept him out last week against the Giants.
