Washington Redskins president Bruce Allen will no longer be involved with the team’s football operations. According to JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington, Allen will be removed from his current role Monday.
Allen has been at the helm of the Redskins for 10 seasons. The team has had only one 10-win season during his tenure.
Under Allen, the Redskins have been marred by drama on the field and within the walls of Redskins Park. The team has gone through numerous setbacks, finishing in third or fourth place of the NFC East in eight seasons under Allen.

Its unclear if Allen will be fired or reassigned away from football operations. Mike Jones of USA TODAY reported earlier this week Allen being moved to the business operations is a possibility.
Redskins owner Dan Snyder has reportedly consulted with small group of football people helping with a new direction for the Redskins. For a long time Allen seemed immune to the team’s sorrowing performances on the field through the years.
However, fan interest has decreased and home attendance has declined this season through the Redskins’ 3-12 season. All appear to be the final straw for Snyder to finally separate from Allen.
Jason LaConfora of CBS Sports reports Snyder has done “research” on former Houston Texans GM Rick Smith and former Redskins executive turned ESPN analyst Louis Riddick as possible general manager candidates.
Snyder reportedly has pondered hiring an Executive VP of Football Operations in lieu of Allen’s firing.
Removing Allen is the best possible start to a true overhaul in Hope’s of turning around the once beloved Redskins’ fortunes.
