The Washington Redskins Monday by firing Bruce Allen after 10 seasons. The changes have not stopped there, as head trainer Larry Hess has been fired after 17 years, according to JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington.

The Redskins training staff has been under fire in recent years following a high number of injuries to players and them being lost for the season. Before the seasons Redskins used a consulting team to examine the rash of injuries.

Then the Trent Williams’ saga crashed the headlines. Williams was upset over a how the team’s training staff handled a growth on his head that ultimately was discovered to be cancerous and had to be removed.

Williams was frustrated with the training staff and Allen, vowing not to play for the Redskins again.

This season two Redskins players — Derrius Guice and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie — re-entered games after being injured only to be placed on injured reserve shortly after the game.

After a disappointing 3-13 season and last-place finish in the NFC East — team has finished in third or fourth place in 8 of 10 seasons — owner Dan Snyder is set to restructure the organization. That restructure started with Allen’s firing and has continued with Hess being removed.
