The door may be open to Trent Williams returning to the Washington Redskins now that Bruce Allen and head trainer Larry Hess have been fired. Following his introduction as Redskins head coach, Ron Rivera stated he plans to sit down with the disgruntled left tackle in hopes of a resolution to his return.

“Well that’s something I’m interested to sit down and talk with the powers that be, the folks that are going to get together and discuss that as we go forward,” Rivera told JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington. “I have an idea of how I want to sit down and visit with him.”

The story of Williams being at odds with the Redskins has been well-documented. It was clear any chance of a return was impossible with Allen and Hess in the organization. Since their firings, Williams has reportedly soften his stance of vowing not to play for the team again.

Reports have suggested Williams’ return to the Redskins is a “possibility.”

Rivera later told 106.7 the Fan, he wants to “find a solution” so both the Redskins and Williams may move forward.

Trent Williams, 31, would eliminate one of the Redskins biggest need. A need that his absence in 2019 created at left tackle. If Williams does bury the hatchet with the team, it frees them to clearly target EDGE Chase Young with the second overall pick in April’s NFL Draft.
