Washington Redskins defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio’s son Luke will be joining his father on the Redskins coaching staff.
Luke tweeted he was joining his father in Washington. JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington added that Luke will be an offensive quality control coach.
Luke Del Rio played quarterback at Alabama, Oregon State and Florida. He was a walk-on at Alabama in 2013, but transferred to Oregon State in 2014. After backing up Sean Mannion, Del Rio transferred to Florida.
After sitting out a season, Del Rio started six games at Florida in 2016, throwing eight touchdowns and eight interceptions. He played in two games in 2017.
His collegiate career was hampered by multiple injuries. Ultimately, he decided to end his playing career.
