The Washington Redskins are doing a complete overhaul with its organizational structure, starting with newly hired head coach Ron Rivera. Rivera, who coached the Carolina Panthers for nine seasons, has control over personnel.
With that power, Rivera has tapped deeply into the Panthers organization, hiring six assistant coaches, an athletic trainer, and one front office from Carolina. That includes offensive coordinator Scott Turner.
Redskins running back Derrius Guice jokingly tweeted the Redskins have become the “Carolina Redskins.”
Before everyone gets up in arms, it was a joke. But, Guice tweeted what many Redskins fans have been thinking and saying throughout social media.
Every firing in the front office and on the coaching staff, seemingly is followed by a hire from the Panthers. It’s what happens more often than not in the NFL.
Remember following the Bruce Allen hire in Washington, home many Tampa Bay Buccaneers connections followed him to the Redskins, including former head coach Jay Gruden and assistants Sean McVay, Kyle Shanahan, Raheem Morris, Joe Barry ultimately and executive Doug Williams?
Until fans seem positive results, there will be comments similar to Guice’s tweet.
