The agent of Washington Redskins linebacker Reuben Foster revealed more concerning details of his knee injury he suffered during OTAs last summer.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Foster suffered nerve damage and did not have feeling in his toes for several months following the surgery on his knee.

Malka Kawa, Foster’s agent, revealed to Rapoport, Foster suffered from a drop foot, the same injury Dallas Cowboys linebacker Jaylon Smith endured from his knee injury suffered in his final game at Notre Dame. Foster could not lift his foot for months.

Foster tore his ACL, MCL and LCL during his first OTA practice with the Redskins in May.

He recently regained feeling in his foot following a trip to Colombia.

“He’s got feeling in his toes, the underside of his foot, the side of his foot,” Kawa told Rapoport. “The nerve is starting to fire again.”

Kawa says he hopes Reuben Foster can participate in some form during the Redskins training camp, but his client has a long way to go. There is no timetable set for his return.

Foster was claimed off waivers by the Redskins in November 2018 from the San Francisco 49ers following his arrest for domestic violence. He sat out the remainder of the season while on the NFL’s exempt list. Charges were dropped and he was reinstated and slated to start for the Redskins in 2019 before his injury.

Washington’s defense is switching to a 4-3 base under new head coach Ron Rivera and defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio. However, it appears Foster may not be counted on heavily for 2020.
