A video surfaced Monday of former NBA player Delonte West in rough shape following an alleged incident in Washington, DC.
Reaction has been plenty since the video surfaced on Twitter. Former St. Joseph’s teammate and NBA player Jameer Nelson released a statement via Twitter about West’s struggles seen in the video.
Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant chimed in about the ruthless and insensitive jokes on social media about West’s state of mind. Bryant also offered to provide help to West.
There has also been a good deal of outcry for the NBA to step in and help West, who clearly is struggling with his mental health.
Through the years, multiple videos have surfaced on West that drew concerns of his well-being. Monday’s video was the latest example of how much he is struggling.
Current NBA players such as DeMar DeRozan, Kevin Love and Kelly Oubre have spoken out about the mental health around the league. The league also outlined guidelines with their mental health initiative.
It’s very clear, West may need that help, if the league hasn’t reached out in the past, which remains unclear.
Whether it is Nelson, Bryant, the NBA or anyone else willing to help, one hopes Delonte West is receptive and willing to accept any assistance.
