A video has surfaced of a man who appears to be Delonte West on a Washington, DC street in rough shape.
West was sitting on the curb of the street explaining that he was approached and assaulted by a man who had a gun. However, when told the second man did not have a gun, West yelled repeatedly “I don’t give a [expletive].”

A second video surfaced of what is alleged to be the fight West was referring to in the video above.
Concerns over the mental health of West surfaced about four years ago, when he was seen roaming around the streets of Houston without shoes on his feet. When asked if he was Delonte West, he replied “I used to be, but I’m not about that life anymore.”
His brother Dmitri later explained that West struggles with bipolar disorder after he had questionable behavior outside a strip club and his kids basketball game. Speculations of West being homeless circulated after he was seen in Temple Hills, Maryland and then in August of last year, he was seen in Dallas.
West starred at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Maryland before going to college to play at St. Joseph’s. Alongside Jameer Nelson, West helped guide the Hawks to an Elite Eight appearance in 2004.
He was a first-round pick of the Boston Celtics that year. West averaged 9.7 points, 3.6 assists and 2.9 rebounds during his NBA career that spanned from 2004 until 2012. That included three seasons with LeBron James with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Concerns of West’s mental health is greater than the headlines that will follow. Hopefully, the NBA or someone of notoriety will be aware of how serious the situation is and try to aid West.
