Quinton Dunbar to Reportedly Meet with Ron Rivera

Quinton Dunbar says that he did not request a trade or his release from the Washington Redskins, according to a new report from Al Galdi of Team980.

According to Galdi, the Redskins cornerback told Rick “Doc” Walker in a phone conversation that he is set to meet with head coach Ron Rivera Thursday. Dunbar wants to see where he stands with the team.

The Dunbar saga began on Monday when JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reported Dunbar was planning to skip OTAs in search of a contract extension.

Shortly after, ESPN’s John Keim reported Dunbar had requested a trade or his release from the Redskins. Dunbar had talks with the Redskins’ previous regime led by now-fired Bruce Allen. However, he had not heard from Rivera since he was named head coach.

Dunbar seemingly confirmed the report by telling Finlay “It is what it is.”

Nonetheless, the latest news from Galdi via Walker is encouraging to say the least.

Dunbar is in the final year of a four-year deal that will pay him $3.25 million in 2020. None of which is guaranteed.
