There was no sophomore slump for Washington Nationals’ phenom Juan Soto in 2019. The then-20 year old hit .282/.401/.548 with 34 home runs and 110 RBI’s as he was an integral part in the Nationals winning the World Series.
Despite his success, Soto, now 21 years of age, remained humbled saying his goal this year is to make the team.
Tuesday, he took a huge step towards his goal, crushing a two-run home run opposite field off St. Louis Cardinals reliever Seth Elledge.
Soto finished the abbreviated outing going 2-for-3 with three RBI’s.
Entering his third season in the majors, Soto is expected to progress off his amazing first two seasons with the Nationals. Now, with the departures of Bryce Harper and Anthony Rendon in back-to-back off-seasons, the young stallion will take on the role of being the face of the franchise.
The Nationals won Tuesday’s outing in Jupiter, Florida 9-6 over the Cardinals.
