Quinton Dunbar calls out Redskins on Ronald Darby Signing

The Washington Redskins have a new cornerback, signing Oxon Hill, Maryland native Ronald Darby to a one-year, $4 million deal according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. However, former Redskins cornerback Quinton Dunbar wasn’t feeling Darby’s homecoming.

Dunbar called out the Redskins for the move on Instagram.

Dunbar was traded to the Seattle Seahawks for a fifth-round pick in this year’s draft last week.

Dunbar had requested his trade after efforts for a new contract was declined by the Redskins brass led by new head coach Ron Rivera.

He is set to make a non-guaranteed $3.25 million in the final year of a three-year deal he signed in 2017. It’s interesting, that Washington signed Darby to play this season for roughly an additional million dollars. Hence, Dunbar’s comment.

It’s unclear what were Dunbar’s contract demands. It’s noteworthy, that he had begun contract talks with the previous front office regime led by since-fired Bruce Allen. Nonetheless, the current regime balked at such a request and ultimately opted to trade him away.

It’s questionable if Darby is a adequate replacement for Dunbar. But one thing is clear, Darby wants to be a Redskin and for whatever reason, Dunbar didn’t.
