Derrius Guice being sued for $500k by former agent

Washington Redskins running back Derrius Guice is being sued for $500,000 in damages by his former agent.

Agent Fadde Mikhail filed the suit on Mar. 31 in California against Guice and his current agency Young Money Sports. He is alleging that Guice failed to pay back a loan as well and other expenses incurred on his watch, according to Richmond.com.

Guice hired Mikhail after he left LSU and declared for the NFL Draft in 2018. However, just weeks before the draft he signed with Young Money which is owned by rapper Lil’ Wayne.

According to the lawsuit, Guice owes Mikhail $191,000 from loans during the pre-draft process. The other money Mikhail is seeking is from endorsement deals he is owed based on a clause in Guice’s contract with Young Money for pre-draft expenses. Money Mikhail has not received.

Agencies often cover expenses of athletes prior to the draft as a loan.

According to the lawsuit, Guice has various endorsements deals. The value of those deals were disclosed in the lawsuit. Those include $100,000 signing bonus and base payments of $40,000 per year for four years from Nike.

The third-year running back also has a deal with Hyundai that was to pay him $35,000. He had a deal with Panini training cards for a minimum of 17,000 autographs at a rate of $12.50 per autograph among other deals.

Guice was also to receive a Young Money APAA chain valued at $11,000.

Guice was a second-round pick of the Redskins. Multiple injuries to his knees has limited him to five games totaled in his first two seasons.

He tore his ACL in his first preseason game as a rookie, effectively ending his season. In 2019, a torn mencious in the season-opener placed him on injured reserve. He returned in Week 10 but a MCL injury in Week 14 ended his season.
