Once again the Washington Redskins are getting ahead of the curve with what is sure to be a trendsetting. Their fans unable to convene at the annual drafty party due to the stay-at-home orders and restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic. So, the team is bringing the party to their fans by hosting an exclusive virtual draft party.
The virtual party will be held on Saturday April 25. It’s open and free for all fans to RSVP.
The Redskins have partnered with 7-Eleven to a virtual experience to allow fans to “celebrate together from the comfort and safety of their homes.”
The 2020 NFL Draft will be held from Apr. 23-25. Longtime Redskins voice Larry Michaels will host with draft coverage and analysis on that Thursday and Friday with guests appearing, including head coach Ron Rivera, vice president of player personnel Kyle Smith and quarterback Dwayne Haskins. Former Redskins’ players will also join in the experience.
“We hope the NFL Draft will be a source of joy and excitement for fans who welcome some distraction during these extremely challenging times,” head coach Ron Rivera said in a statement. “The virtual draft party is meant to be a celebration that will create a sense of unity for Redskins fans as we continue this fight together, while understanding we have a responsibility to dot he right thing by not celebrating together physically.”
