The Ron Rivera era will begin at home as the Washington Redskins will open the 2020 season by hosting their NFC East rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, according to JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington.
This will the third time in the past four seasons the Redskins and Eagles have opened a season against each other. The only time the two didn’t since 2017 was the 2018 season in which the Eagles opened on Thursday Night Football as the defending Super Bowl champions (vs. Atlanta) and the Redskins played at the Arizona Cardinals.
The Eagles have recently dominated the series by sweeping the Redskins in each of the past three seasons. Prior to that the Redskins had won five straight against the Eagles (2014-2016).
In the six-game winning streak against the Redskins, the #Eagles have outscored them by an average score of 30.8-18.0.

Last season, the two opened at Philadelphia resulting in a 32-27 Eagles’ win. It was the infamous game in which Adrian Peterson was a healthy scratch with Jay Gruden as the head coach.
