Bradley Beal, LeBron James react to DC’s Black Lives Matter mural near White House

Washington, DC mayor Muriel Bowser created buzz for the city after she approved a “Black Lives Matter” mural on the section of 16th street leading to the White House. The mural is in support of the Black Lives Matter movement that has sparked protests and conversation following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

Mayor Bowser also referenced Breonna Taylor, who was shot and killed by Louisville police while she was in her home.

Bowser also renamed the intersection “Black Lives Matter Plaza.”

Washington Wizards cornerstone guard Bradley Beal thanked the mayor for her decision. Beal has been vocal against racial injustice. He also has been a pillar in the DC community throughout his NBA career.

Beal wasn’t the only NBA figure to express excitement for the mural. Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James called the mural “Beautiful.”

James has been in the forefront against racial injustice, going back to the 2014 death of Eric Garner, who died in the custody of New York Police Department.

Earlier this week, Beal led an united statement from the Wizards players. The Wizards’ organization shared the strong messages from its players.
