Converse covering Natasha Cloud’s WNBA pay while she sits out season

Natasha Cloud forfeited her 2020 WNBA salary when she decided to opt out of playing this season. The Washington Mystics guard will continue her fight for social reform. While she does, Converse is covering her contract for the season, Cloud recently told ABC News.

Cloud’s salary for the 2020 season is $117,000, according to Spotrac. She had already received a portion of her pay, as the WNBA had previously paid a portion of players’ salaries. Converse will cover the remaining pay.

“We are proud to have her on the Converse team, are humbled to match her forfeited players salary and look forward to working together with Natasha on these issues as well as supporting her vision in this space.”

Converse confirmed to NBC Sports Washington

In June, Cloud became the first WNBA player to sign a shoe endorsement deal with Converse. She earned for her outspokenness and advocating as much as her play. Converse, who’s parent owner is Nike, has continued to support their commitment to Cloud.
