Former Washington Redskins executive Alex Santos was implicated for sexual harassment and inappropriate remarks and behavior among other things in the bombshell Washington Post report. Among the accusations against Santos included troubling behavior six former team employees and two female Redskins beat writers — Rhiannon Walker of the Athletic and former Washington Times reporter Nora Princiotti, according to Will Hobson and Liz Clarke of the Washington Post.
Santos served as the team’s director of pro personnel. He allegedly made repeated unsuccessful advances at Walker at the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine. His advances included pinching her on the hip and telling her she had “an ass like a wagon” in a room of other team employees and beat reporters.
Walker told the Post she felt humiliated. She filed a complaint with the team, informing former team vice president of communications Tony Wyllie. The Athletic supported Walker’s account and confirmed to the Post their attorneys spoke with the team about the incident.
āIt felt like pretty much the worst thing in the world,ā Walker said. āHe didnāt care. He thought it was funny.ā
The Athletic was told by the team Santos had been disciplined but declined specifics.
Santos was also accused of multiple advances at Princiotti in 2017 while she covered the team. She learned through a male team employee she had an inappropriate nickname āPrincihottie” around Redskins Park.
āIt was gross and also just a terrible pun,ā she said. āThere was an overwhelming sense that no one would ever do anything about this stuff.ā
Santos was fired last week after the Washington Post informed the team about the allegations against him.
