DJ Swearinger calls out Jay Gruden exposing old text exchange

Former Washington safety DJ Swearinger continued his feud with former Redskins head coach Jay Gruden. Swearinger shared an old text exchange with Gruden on his Instagram, in which it appears Gruden was upset for perceived comments made by Swearinger after a 2018 loss to the New York Giants.

Gruden wanted Swearinger to call him. But Swearinger preferred to meet the next morning. In the meeting, the two were able to settle their differences as Gruden was mistaken the comments were directed at him.

Still, Swearinger was not pleased with the way Gruden approached him in the text. Thus, he claims his view of Gruden changed. And his frustration over the situation is what led to his postgame comments following a Week 16 loss to Tennessee in which he ripped defensive coordinator Greg Manusky.

The Redskins released him shortly afterwards. Swearinger then ripped Gruden.

Swearinger wrote he chose to reveal the text exchange after the Washington Post’s story ran about 15 former female employees accusing Washington officials of sexual harassment and verbal abuse.

“As A Man You Have To Find Your Peace Through All The Negativity & Move Fwd!! I Was Gonna Give The Man A Pass but after what’s going on with that organization with women! They all need to be exposed.”
