Washington Football Team has placed linebacker Reuben Foster on the active/physically unable to perform list.
Washington acquired Foster in November 2018 off waivers from the San Francisco 49ers. He has yet to play in a game for Washington.
Foster finished the 2018 season on the league’s commissioner exempt list, as he faced domestic violence charges stemming from an alleged November incident in Tampa that led to his release from the 49ers.
Foster was cleared and charges were dropped. He was reinstated ahead of the 2019 season. Unfortunately, in his first practice Foster suffered a serious knee injury, tearing his ACL, LCL and MCL.
Foster also suffered nerve damage with the injury, causing he a dropped foot. In January, his agent revealed Foster had regained feeling in his foot.
Recently, Foster shared video of him training for the upcoming season. As he reported to training camp Monday, he was put on the PUP list. Much like Alex Smith, who was also placed on the PUP list by Washington, this allows Foster to continue to rehab and work on the sidelines in individual drills.
Team doctors will be able to continue to evaluate his progress with his knee and foot.
Foster enters the season on the final year of his rookie deal. Washington declined a fifth-year option on the talented linebacker. The move made sense considering he has played in 16 games since entering the league in 2017.
