Washington wide receiver Cody Latimer has been placed on the NFL’s Commissioner Exempt list, according to statement from an NFL spokeperson. Latimer was charged with multiple felonies, including assault with a deadly weapon stemming from a May incident.
While on the commissioner exempt list, Latimer won’t be allowed to practice or attend any games until he is reinstate. He can participate in individual workouts, team meetings and other permitted non-football activities. He will not count against the team’s 80-man training camp roster.
Latimer is facing eight charges, including four felonies for allegedly attacking a friend and firing a gun during the physical confrontation inside a Denver apartment. The disagreement started during a poker game.
Cody Latimer signed a one-year deal with Washington this offseason after spending the past two seasons with the New York Giants. He was expected to be a viable option for quarterback Dwayne Haskins.
Latimer’s placement on the commissioner exempt list shortens the depth to an already thin Washington wide receiver group. Kelvin Harmon will miss the entire 2020 season after tearing his ACL while training.
